Canada Safety Council – Train-the-Trainer Program
This program is tailored for company in-house trainers seeking to become certified Canada Safety Council instructors in either the:
- Defensive Driving Course (DDC) – For light duty vehicles (under 4,500kg)
- Professional Driver Improvement Course (PDIC) – For heavy duty vehicles (over 4,500kg)
- 55 Alive Course – For senior drivers
- Winter Service Driver Improvement Course
- Paramedic Driving Enhancement Program
- School Bus Driver Improvement Course
If you are a manager, supervisor, and/or health and safety professional that is required to deliver in-house defensive driver training, this program will provide all the material and preparation needed for successful delivery.
Candidates will undergo the course(s) to familiarize themselves with the program, while learning how to adapt the material to their company’s specific needs in training employees.
Also, upon successful completion of the course(s), candidates will be able to certify their own students or employees with the Canada Safety Council certification process via the SkillsPass system.
Main Program Objectives
- To provide instructor-candidates with the opportunity of gaining the required experience, information, and motivation to effectively present the course(s).
- To develop an in-class program customized to your company’s needs, while learning educational and classroom principles that will give candidates the know-how in directing a classroom setting.
- Autonomy in providing candidates with familiarization and ability to certify their own students and employees via SkillsPass.

Program Details
- Certification – Canada Safety Council instructor certification(s) (valid for 3 years before requiring recert.).
- Location – Can be delivered via a virtual setting and/or in-person setting (e.g., in the classroom of the hiring party).
- Format – Interactive classroom with formal and informal instruction, discussion, and workgroups. Participants’ presentation of the course(s).
